vaisoft (바이소프트, the “Company”) explains here, under the Personal Information Protection Act of Korea, how the ramyun timer app Bogeul Bogeul (the “App”) handles personal information. This policy applies to the App on iOS and Android.
1. Information that stays on your device
Records of the ramyun you cook to the end with the App (which ramyun, and the date and time), records you add to the calendar yourself, your noodle firmness choices, and settings such as sound effects are stored only on your device. The App has no sign-up or sign-in, and the Company runs no server that stores your records, so it does not receive or see them. The App does not display ads such as banners or pop-ups, and contains no advertising SDK or analytics of the Company’s own.
- The App’s screens, pack photos, recipes, and fonts are built in, so recipes and the timer work without an internet connection.
- On iPhone, app data may be included, along with your other device data, in your iCloud backup or a backup on your computer.
- On Android, depending on your device’s backup settings, app data may be included in your Google Account backup.
- These backups are managed under your Apple Account or Google Account settings, and the Company cannot access them.
- Deleting the App deletes the records stored on your device.
2. Coupang Partners links
At the bottom of a ramyun’s detail screen, under 집에 없다면 (“Out of it?”), some ramyun have a 쿠팡에서 보기 (“View on Coupang”) link to the product page on Coupang. These links are part of the Coupang Partners program, and the Company earns a commission from purchases made through them.
- Tapping the link opens Coupang in your device’s browser or the Coupang app. From there, Coupang’s terms of use and privacy policy apply to what you do and buy.
- The link address carries a partner identifier showing that the visit came through the App. Coupang uses it to count clicks and purchases, and may use cookies or similar technologies to do so.
- The Company receives performance reports from Coupang Partners, such as the number of clicks and the products and amounts ordered, but nothing that identifies who tapped a link or made a purchase.
- When it opens a link, the App sends Coupang nothing from inside the App, such as your records or settings.
3. Notifications, sharing, and device features
- The notification you get when a timer ends is a local notification scheduled on your device; the Company runs no server that sends notifications. The App asks for notification permission once, the first time you open the cooking screen. If you decline, the timer and sounds inside the App still work.
- On Android, the App uses the exact alarm (USE_EXACT_ALARM) permission so that timer notifications arrive on time.
- Keeping the screen on while you cook and vibration use device features only and involve no processing of information.
- The “Today’s bowl” card on the finish screen is made on your device. To share it, the App saves it briefly in its temporary storage and passes it only to where you choose in the share sheet. Once sent, it is handled under that service’s policies.
- The App does not access your location, camera, microphone, contacts, or photo library. The greeting on the home screen is chosen from your device’s clock alone.
4. Support emails and retention
If you email us, we process your email address, name, and message to reply, and keep them for one year from the date the inquiry is resolved before destroying them. Where a law requires longer retention, we keep them for the period that law specifies.
5. Your rights
- You can delete records one at a time on the calendar, or all at once in the App under Settings → 기록 지우기 (Clear records); deleting the App also deletes them. Because the Company keeps no copy, deleted records cannot be recovered.
- You can turn notification permission on or off at any time in your device settings.
- For data Coupang processes, you can exercise your rights as described in Coupang’s privacy policy.
- You may request access to, correction of, deletion of, or suspension of processing of personal information from your support emails by writing to the contact in Section 8. The Company will act without delay.
6. Security measures
The Company takes the following measures to keep personal information safe.
- The App’s records are kept on each user’s device, not gathered on Company servers.
- The App includes no advertising SDKs or third-party analytics.
- Access to support emails is limited to the people who need it.
7. Children
The App is not directed to children, and the Company does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 14.
